End of Season 16

Wow! Another year gone by. I cannot believe that we have just wrapped up our 16th full season of Reel Movie Mondays!

We had a fantastic year full of independent films that ranged from uplifting or romantic, to dark, and deeply challenging (we’re looking at you Spring 2018). Without the amazing support of our film attendees this entire film series would not be possible.

Thank you to our volunteer film selection group for giving dozens of hours each season to reviewing film synopses, film trailers and film options. Thank you to Carnival Cinemas for their continued partnership in hosting our film series. They provide so much support during film screenings, from technical work, to concession, and helping to promote the film series to their own attendees. All of the staff are a delight to work with and I have been told by our attendees that they have the best popcorn! Thank you to our restaurant partner To The Lost. What an amazing downtown Red Deer business and cool atmosphere. I know we have regular attendees who stop in on film nights before and/or after the film and enjoy their slate of hand-crafted cocktails, and delicious meals. A big, huge thank you to TIFF and the TIFF FILM CIRCUIT partners/sponsors. TIFF provides us with the slate of film options to choose our season lineup from and handles all of the bookings with the many distributors, and take care of the logistics of shipping. For all of that we  are grateful. It takes a huge network to run a film series, and every individuals keeps things running on-time and as smooth as possible.

Let us know if there were any films we screened this past season (September 2017 to May 2018) that really inspired you, challenged you, or even made you feel a deep emotion for better or worse.

The Insult film  Death of Stalin

It’s now time for us to take a short summer break, regain our energy and look forward to starting a whole new season.

There are some questions we have for you:

What would you think about us adding another 3 films to the year? (This would make 3 mini-seasons of 6 films each)

What do you think of us having an encore screening of our most popular film from the prior season? (We tried this with THE DRESSMAKER in September 2017 as a kick-off to season 16 as it was our most popular film in season 15). Season 16’s most popular film was LOVING VINCENT.

Let us know! You can call 403-309-8441, e-mail karli.kendall@reddeer.ca, send us a message on Facebook or reply to this blog post.

Happy Summer and we will see you again in the Fall of 2018! (Tickets will go on sale in September)

Sincerely,
