The wait is over. Welcome to our Winter 2020 film lineup!
Dear RMM Attendees!
This season certainly promises to challenge our audience and take us on a film trip around the world! 4 of our 5 films are international (South Korea, Macedonia, Spain and France) and one of our films is Indigenous Canadian which plays out in a "real time" format between our two main characters.
Our first film, PARASITE, is poised to make Oscar history as South Korea’s first-ever international-feature Oscar nominee (we'll find out at the announcements). Our second film, HONEYLAND, is a documentary that was the most awarded film at Sundance - it took home home the World Cinema Grand Jury Prize, a Special Jury Award for cinematography, and another Special Jury Award for Originality. Our third film PAIN AND GLORY was selected by the Spanish Academy as its submission for the international feature film Academy Award. Our Canadian selection, THE BODY REMEMBERS WHEN THE WORLD BROKE OPEN uses 16mm and presents the narrative in "real time" to tell the remarkable story of two women's resilience, strength, and mutual support. Our final film PORTRAIT OF A LADY ON FIRE won the Queer Palm prize and was awarded Best Screenplay at the Cannes Film Festival!
